CERTIFICATION
Food Safety Certification is for individuals who need food safety training and certification for supervising a food service operation. This includes any member of your team who comes into contact with food.
Participants in PFST classes will learn:
- The causes of food borne illnesses and how to minimize the risk
- The principles of food safety
- How to establish systems for safe receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, holding, serving, cooling, and reheating
- How to design cleaning, sanitizing, and pest control systems
Food service operations will benefit by:
- Meeting state and local health department requirements
- Will not loose 2 points by having met North Carolina State requirements
- Being proactive in food safety while improving employee morale
- Acquiring continuing education credits
- Developing a professional working relationship with the local health department
