Food Safety Certification

Food Safety Certification is for individuals who need food safety training and
certification for supervising a food service operation. This includes any member
of your team who comes into contact with food.

Participants in PFST classes will learn:

  • the causes of foodbourne illnesses and how to minimize the risk
  • the principles of food safety
  • how to establish systems for safe receiving, storing, preparing, cooking,
    holding, serving, cooling, and reheating
  • how to design cleaning, sanitizing, and pest control systems

Food service operations will benefit by:

  • meeting state and local health department requirements
  • successful completion of class allows for two points credit on a
    North Carolina health department inspection
  • being proactive in food safety while improving employee morale
  • acquiring continuing education credits
  • learn how to develop a professional working relationship with
    your local health department
