Certification
Food Safety Certification is for individuals who need food safety training and certification for supervising a food service operation. This includes any member of your team who comes into contact with food.

Participants in PFST classes will learn:

  • The causes of food borne illnesses and how to minimize the risk
  • The principles of food safety
  • How to establish systems for safe receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, holding, serving, cooling, and reheating
  • How to design cleaning, sanitizing, and pest control systems
Food service operations will benefit by:
  • Meeting state and local health department requirements
  • Earning two points credit on a North Carolina health department inspection
  • Being proactive in food safety while improving employee morale
  • Acquiring continuing education credits
  • Developing a professional working relationship with the local health department
